...revisiting...

...the latest challenge theme over at michelle ward/street team/green pepper press is to revisit past work and see what happens...
...many years ago, i aspired to be a watercolorist...it was fun to take the classes and the top pic was one of my class pieces...but, it just wasn't enough color for me and i continued with watercolors for a while, but only as play materials and backgrounds...always searching for where i am now...back to acrylics...and paper...

...new process...i guess it would've helped if i had printed my flower on the correct side of the inkjet canvas paper...this is not my most pleasing work but i learned a lot...so that is worth the posting...even if you don't like it...keep it...learn from it...you might revisit it again...it's all worth it...

Oh, I like both of them. The original AND the revisited. The colors are lovely, purple being my favorite color and all. I've revisited a piece before, a drawing that I did as a watercolor. My attenpt at watercolor anyway. I should do it again. Thanks for the inspiration.

I'm a great fan of Michelle's but haven't yet plucked up the courage to have a go. I'm glad you have though...this piece is great. Your beautiful iris inspired a gorgeous colour scheme.....

I really like both, but I do prefer your reworking! I used to love watercolour, but without mixing medias it feels flat to me!
Thanks for sharing your lovely artwork. =)

I think they're amazing and beautiful. It is so darn cool to see the work where artists "came from" - we are a sum of our experiences and people don't often get to see the experiences, just the sum and the experiences are so unique and lovely on their own. Wonderful post!

Your irises are both beautiful. I too started out painting in watercolor, and, while I loved the process and the challenge of controlling the medium, I just couldn't get enough oomph into my paintings to suit me. (You know how gaudy I am). There are artists who can achieve the depth and intensity I love; I'm just not one of them. It IS fun to revisit, though, and I really loved seeing some of your past works.

Love,
Alberta

Both really are beautiful, but I love the turquoise blue you've added to the new one. It is beautiful with the purple and really give it a kick!

Jean - sorry I couldn't comment until now. I love both of these pieces. The first is amazing! Never having watercolored I am most impressed with your skill. And the second is a very cool revisit, incorporating vibrant layers of collage. Thanks for sharing with the team!!
